A large number of SMEs have revealed they experienced a large jump in spam and malware attacks via their social networking sites in 2009.
Security firm Sophos questioned 500 firms and found that nearly 70% had experienced a rise in both attacks and spam. More than 50% reported a rise in spam, while 36% experienced more malware attacks. Facebook was found to be the biggest culprit for security risks followed by MySpace, Twitter and the business networking favourite LinkedIn. Most of the businesses questioned said they worried that their staff’s actions could lead to security risks. (more…)
