Summer Eventia Glasgow networking event proves to be a huge success

Summer Eventia, celebrating its fifth anniversary, held an event that brought toegther industry professionals, speakers and leaders, in Glasgow earlier this July. It attracted over 230 delegates, all of whom could then exchange ideas and take part in social activities as part of the event.

Durham networking group sees rebranding after 30 successful years of operation

The Durham Business Club, Durham Training and Durham Office Services, which offer networking services, work-based learning for apprentices and virtual office facilities respectively, are to be rebranded as the Durham Business Group.

After 30 years it was decided the company should rebrand and create a new enterprise as part of a restructuring bid. With approximately 300 members, Durham Business Club is one of the most popular groups in the Durham area, holding monthly networking events for regional businesses. (more…)

Staffordshire business networking group appoints new chairman

A business networking group for young professionals in the Staffordshire area has appointed a Lichfield solicitor to head it for the future.

SucceSS, a group within the Southern Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has made Neil Faunch head of the group. He currently works in Ansons Solicitors, which recently expanded its residential property department, taking on more staff.

Dereham networking group holding event in hopes of recruiting new members

Business Networking International will be inviting prospective networkers and businesspeople to a visitors day morning meeting in Dereham next Wednesday.

The BNI is one of the most popular global networking groups, boasting 650 chapters and 14,000 members and focuses on the farming of relationships rather than the hunting. This translates to the giving of referrals to other members, instead of actively seeking opportunities without bringing any offer to the table. Derbyshire aerospace see significant benefit from networking events

The Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA) is a collaboration of Derbyshire aerospace companies which came together in 2003 to reverse the decline in demand for air travel, following the 9/11 terrorist attack in America.

Post-recession, togetherness was even more vital for the industry and thanks to these relationships formed from networking, the dip in activity in the aerospace sector has been shallow.

What can you bring to your networking events?

Many new networkers enter networking events with the wrong attitude; that the whole room is there to only benefit him/herself, thereby not needing to personally bring any information or referral opportunities of their own. This, however, dissuades businesspeople from being tempted to set up business relationships and can often make the deal significantly one-sided.

The key to a successful networking event is to ensure that you bring something with you to the table to sweeten the deal – whether it is the proven success of your company, an upcoming business deal or an exchange that would brings positive results to both companies.

Mid-Devon FSB hosts “Final Friday Networking” events

The Mid-Devon FSB is launching a new range of free networking events named “Final Friday Networking”.

The events are held (you guessed it!) on the last Friday of each month and kick off this Friday (30th April). They’re targeted at members of the Federation of Small Businesses and have been designed to fit in with the busy schedule of local companies. Currently there are around 550 members of the Mid-Devon FSB and the organisation is hoping these events will prove to be a big draw for all members. Not a member? Entrepreneur sends message to North East networkers

Texting at networking events is just rude isn’t it? Well, a Wearside entrepreneur could be about to change everyone’s opinion!

Ken Fryer has developed a service which offers an innovative text service at networking events. The idea’s fairly simple; attendees note down their contact details when they arrive at the event. Then other people can access their details and send them a text to arrange to meet up at the event. It’s been designed to ensure that everybody gets to meet who they want to meet and hopes to stop people missing out due to time restraints or lack of knowledge.  (more…)

It might not be obvious but networking is a vital part of teaching. PechaKucha takes the networking world by storm

Creatives around the world are falling in love with PechaKucha networking events and it’s not hard to see why.

Formed in Tokyo in 2003, PechaKucha Nights were devised to help young creative-types show off their work and meet other like-minded designers. The idea is simple; pick 20 images and talk about them for 20 seconds. That’s it! After the presentations you get the chance to meet other speakers and hopefully exchange key contact details.
