There’s no doubt about it – social networking sites are now a major part of our lives and are used by millions on a daily basis for a wide range of reasons. From sharing photos to catching up with our friends, it seems we really can’t get enough social networking action.

But while social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter boast tens of millions of users, it seems business networking sites haven’t fared that well in comparison. While LinkedIn has an impressive 3 million UK members and 60 million users worldwide, these figures pale into insignificance when you compare them to Facebook’s 23 million UK users and 300 million users worldwide. Microsoft Outlook adds social media feeds

Imagine an e-mail system that allows you to manage all social media networks in one place… This week Microsoft announced changes to Outlook which will allow you to do just that.

The 500 million users of Outlook will soon be able to check their updates and notifications on popular business networking sites, such as Facebook and LinkedIn, without having to leave the comfort of their own e-mail system. This is great news for the growing number of businesses who rely on social media sites to stay in touch with key contacts.
