At a single networking event you could receive tens of new business cards, even hundreds if you’re really on a roll, but the vast majority are all the same and can easily blend into one another. You might make a great impression on a new contact but if your business card is bland and dull then what’s  the point?! Could augmented reality help business networking?

Augmented reality. Most of us have only just started to take notice of it, but you might be surprised to learn it’s been around for at least 50 years in one form or another.

What exactly is it? Augmented reality is technology that’s allowing smartphones to become a lot smarter. The technology allows you to point a mobile camera viewer down any street and receive real-time information about nearby services overlaid onto the real world image infront of you. A successful example is Acrossair’s Nearest Tube application which shows you the nearest Underground station to your position. Clever stuff eh, but can it really help business networking? (more…)

Networking can be a tough business. In a  networking meeting you could meet and greet tens of new contacts and collect multiple business cards in a single day.

But the question is can you remember who they all belong to? Probably not! Because you meet so many people in a single afternoon it can sometimes be difficult to remember which card belongs to which contact.
